Well, I'm going to start out my first post with a little about me. I'm Liz. I'm high school senior and an epic band geek. I play flute, piccolo, tenor sax, bassoon and guitar. You could say I know quite a bit about music. Over the years, I've gone through phases with music, from classic rock & roll to pop to folk to country to jazz & classical to metal. Add a random dash of world music, such as Gaelic and Native American in there, and that's just about everything.
But today, I'm going to give y'all a little country song.
Kenny Chesney - Boats (4.24MB m4a)
It's called "Boats" and it's by Kenny Chesney.
This has to be one of my very favorite country songs, of all time. Chesney combines the twang of country with the smooth, easy feeling of the Caribbean islands.
In this song, Chesney's soothing voice swoons about the freedom of boats. The free-flowing rhythm actually give you the feeling that you're sitting on the deck of a sailboat somewhere in the ocean near the Caribbean. If you close your eyes and really imagine, you can feel the easy rocking of the boat from the waves. Maybe you can even smell and feel the salty spray of the ocean.
I always get lost in this song.
It's so simply beautiful.
~Liz
Surprisingly tolerable. This is coming from a hater of country music.
