And You Already Know

How this will end.
(by DeVotchKa)

Today I was flicking through my songs and once again rediscovered DeVotchKa. I absolutely adore DeVotchKa...they're so different from any other band I've listened to. If you internet stalk them, like I do, you'd know that their name means "girl" in Russian. I mean..how subtly cryptic is that? (well, not really, but I think it is an absolutely perfect name for a band) They use a few uncommon instruments in a lot of their songs, such as the theremin, bouzouki, and accordion. I love it, and I think you will too.

The music is a little hard to get used to from the get go, but it will grow on you. They definitely have a unique sound that is easily liked after a few listens. Sort of like an acquired taste. The song I chose and have linked is called "How It Ends". I'm pretty sure (but not positive) it was featured in the film "Little Miss Sunshine"? They wrote the soundtrack for it, anyway.

"How It Ends" is in some ways, a sad song. One that will make you think and keep hitting that repeat button on your iPod. It starts out slowly, leading into the music until the melody sets in motion. While the singing is decent, I think that it is the instruments make this song one to remember. Have a listen (:
